Syntech is enhancing its market leading Airwave CDR (Call Detail Records) Analysis and Reporting Tool for the Airwave Tetra network with two new analysis modules.

The first module is a powerful new Billing Module for auditing Airwave's charging mechanism which now encompasses data from both Voice and Data Service CDRs. Users can easily analyse and report the key billing parameters of Busy Hour, 90 day rolling average and peak 90 day rolling average. This helps them deliver an efficent and cost effective service.

The new Data Service Analysis Module provides an even greater level of analysis and reporting capabilty. It provides all the information managers and decision makers need to optimise their use of the Airwave Data Service. They can now access the usage of status messages, SDS messages and, soon, IP ssessions. Understanding how data is being used and charged for enables costs to be minimised, data applications to be assessed and the total Airwave Service to be managed in the most efficient way.

The modules were exhibited at BAPCO 2010.

Essex Police

Due to an increasing number of IT system acceptances Essex Police wanted a common framework whereby all IS staff could be trained in specification, testing and acceptance. Syntech ran a series of workshops for Essex Police using a mixture of theory-based presentations, practical exercises and ‘real world’ scenarios.

The Solution

Image

Syntech delivered three day-long Test & Acceptance workshops at Essex Police HQ. The course content covered the following areas:

  • The importance of User requirements
  • Tracing User Requirements through design to verification and acceptance
  • Developing test scripts in the real world
  • Repeating tests and regression testing
  • The difference between Requirements and Technical Specifications
  • Gap analysis
  • The different between functional and performance testing

The workshop examined the whole lifecycle of the test and verification process and at the end of each session delegates were provided with an information pack covering course content and test examples.

Business Challenge

One of the challenges facing any training workshop is that of maintaining group participation and interaction. By involving group activity throughout the course, presenting a range of relevant ‘real world’ situations and keeping sessions to a maximum of 1 ½ hours Syntech maintained interest and enthusiasm throughout the day.

Results

Essex Police originally booked 2 courses, but have subsequently completed a third course and requested two more course dates this year. Feedback from delegates has been positive and the course is now being marketed at wider audience throughout the emergency services.

  • Test and acceptance training

Customer Testimonial

“The workshops were clearly delivered ensuring all participants were involved. They brought home to all of us the importance of thoroughly planning all user specifications and testing processes before rushing headlong into implementing a system and then having to deal with issues that could have been solved before implementation.”

Brian Jaggs, Airwave IT Manager, Essex Police
