Syntech is enhancing its market leading Airwave CDR (Call Detail Records) Analysis and Reporting Tool for the Airwave Tetra network with two new analysis modules.

The first module is a powerful new Billing Module for auditing Airwave's charging mechanism which now encompasses data from both Voice and Data Service CDRs. Users can easily analyse and report the key billing parameters of Busy Hour, 90 day rolling average and peak 90 day rolling average. This helps them deliver an efficent and cost effective service.

The new Data Service Analysis Module provides an even greater level of analysis and reporting capabilty. It provides all the information managers and decision makers need to optimise their use of the Airwave Data Service. They can now access the usage of status messages, SDS messages and, soon, IP ssessions. Understanding how data is being used and charged for enables costs to be minimised, data applications to be assessed and the total Airwave Service to be managed in the most efficient way.

The modules were exhibited at BAPCO 2010.

Melbourne Ambulance Service

The Melbourne Ambulance Service (MAS) is part of a joint Police-Fire-Ambulance procurement of a replacement radio service using an ACPO25 system from Motorola. Syntech provided technical quality assurance on the digital radio aspects of the project and acceptance test methodologies as part of a wider support package provided by Opticon Australia. The aim was to ensure that the delivered system, as provided by Motorola, fully met all MAS’ operational requirements.

The Solution

Image

Syntech’s main role was to review the test and design documents provided by Motorola against MAS’ original user requirements to ensure that the delivered system was fit for purpose. A key part of Syntech’s work was to review Motorola’s plans for coverage testing and to ensure that it complied with the industry recommendations contained within TIA TSB88A.

Feedback was provided in a common format and was fed into the joint Police-Fire-Ambulance review process.

Business Challenge

One of the main challenges was working across a 14-hour time differential against very tight deadlines. Syntech developed internal processes to ensure that documents were picked up as soon as they were released, were reviewed by the relevant personnel and that the results were fed back to Opticon and MAS in a timely fashion.

Results

Many of Syntech’s comments were subsequently adopted by the other parties to the procurement and led to a number of major issues being flagged for resolution.

Key Services

Client Comment/Testimonial

Syntech’s efforts were a cornerstone of MAS’ whole acceptance process. Commenting on Syntech’s work, Paul Hassell, the MAS Project Manager, said:

“We are very appreciative of Syntech’s efforts and the high quality of their outputs.”
