Syntech Systems will work as specialist UK consultants in partnership with Opticon Australia in their winning bid for the Victorian Department of Justice.

The project will advise on the future delivery of radio communications for all emergency services in Victoria over the next seven years. The strategy will take into account user requirements, best use, geographic conditions, network compatibility issues and emergency scenarios such as the bushfires of 2009. Key challenges will be to update system architecture and unify disparate systems, whilst maintaining a flexible and ever-growing network.

Showcase Presentation

Syntech will be providing another of our popular Showcase Presentations. These are free to anyone attending the conference or exhibition. This year we will be talking on:

The Syntech CDR Reporting Tool: unlocking the value of Airwave

Every month, Airwave users around the country receive a CD containing their Call Detail Records (CDRs). This has a record of every call made by their users on the Airwave network – a potentially invaluable source of information to verify billing data and understand how the Airwave service is being used.

During this Showcase Presentation, Syntech will show you how to unlock the information being held in the CDRs. We will then demonstrate how to use this information to:

  • Track trends and projected usage
  • Investigate individual incidents or users
  • Optimise your use of the Airwave network

Using real data and the Syntech CDR Reporting Tool, we will be showing, via a series of genuine examples, how you can improve your Airwave service and ultimately save money!

Main Conference

Dr Brian Williams and Chief Inspector Keith Beechener (Essex Police) will be sharing their practical experience in configuring, managing and maintaining TETRA performance during Fallback during the following presentation.

Configuring TETRA To Provide A Fallback Service

Drawing on Essex Police’s experience of configuring the Airwave service to provide an operationally acceptable Fallback service, this talk covered issues such as:

  • Configuring individual sites for Local Site Trunking (LST)
  • Sectored antenna sites
  • The importance of the terminal
  • Options for providing central control during Fallback
  • Planning network coverage with Fallback in mind

The talk will be illustrated throughout with case studies, giving practical advice how to configure and work with LST.

26th - 27th April 2006, Design Centre, Islington.

Now in its eighth year, the annual BAPCO event represents the focal point in the calendar for all organisations, companies and individuals involved with public safety communications and information technology systems.

Attracting over 1,600 key personnel from public safety agencies, central and local government, utilities and the communications and IT manufacturing and service sectors, BAPCO continues to grow in importance as a forum for discussion of the key issues affecting the industry, both current and future. Uniquely, it is organised for users by users, and tackles the topics that you know to be important in your work.

BAPCO 2006 will feature:

  • An Exhibition, profiling over 95 market leading manufacturers and service providers
  • A dedicated Conference, the programme for which has been carefully planned by your peers
  • A series of short and free to attend Showcase Theatre seminars presented by a number of the exhibitors
